Cartoon Face of Depression 2018 Kaveh Adel Cartoonist
Today I woke up to the news of yet another icon, Anthony Bourdain, losing a battle by taking his own life. Last week it was Kate Spade. But everyday so many others who are not famous struggle with suicidal thoughts just the same. Depression is one of those battles that can lead one down the unthinkable path.
We all wear masks. Some of them to keep up with the outward appearances yet many are to distract us from the reality we either fear to face or have no strength to face.
There are those who say, “Snap out of it!” or “it’s just a phase…” yet the reality is much more complex. There is one ray of hope. There is always help, professional help, if one seeks it.
