Cartoon Freedom over Dogma 2018 Kaveh Adel Cartoonist
Iranian women and some men are tying scarves and their Islamic Hijab to tree branches and holding them on top of pedestals on street corners in silent, defiant protest to the Islamic Republic’s mandatory Hijab demanding freedom over dogma. It all started with the “Girl/Woman on Revolution street” and now has evolved to “Girls/Women on Revolution Street” civil movement. In contrast, a clergyman expressed his allegiance to this reactionary law by flying the Islamic Republic’s religion-laden flag, in opposition to the general public and the majority of the youth.
