Cartoon “We The People” 2017 Kaveh Adel Cartoonist
Today Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America. Based on the twelfth constitutional amendment, he was elected via the process we now call the Electoral college. As a democratic nation, this process is respected and law is upheld until such time when the law is found to be inadequate where an amendment can be introduced, debated and potentially passed. This is where the popular vote debate has gained much more traction in the recent elections….. definite room for more discussion. But not today.
Peaceful transfer of power from the previous administration under former president Obama was a great display of this in action. He was held accountable by his employers, the People, through the power of the constitution. In fact, the last line in the oath of office clearly has the president-elect swear to, “…. faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
Now, President Trump has the opportunity to be an employee who must uphold the constitution for ALL of the PEOPLE in the United States of America. And he can be sure that the PEOPLE will hold him accountable each and every step of the way…. afterall, We the People elected him and we reserve the lines to keep him hired or tell him, ” You’re Fired”
Now, if we could just have him concentrate of the job at hand instead of the twitter accounts… maybe we can safely call him Mr. President instead of Mr. Tweetident.
Thank goodness for the Constitution.
peace and love for all,
Kaveh, a proud citizen of the United States of America and human inhabiting this great world doing what he can to make it a better place.
