Political Cartoon: "Romney Geography Lesson" by Iranian American Cartoonist Kaveh AdelI watched the last (thankfully) U.S. Presidential Debate last night.

Geography and historical perspective pertaining to Foreign policy was scarce, particularly on Governor Romney’s side especially after saying, “Syria is Iran’s Route to the sea.”

Hyperbole is a tool used by politicians, as we have seen and heard, time and time again the word terrorism and 9/11 thrown around like confetti.  As a cartoonist hyperbole is also one of the tools I have to make a point.

When a cartoonist is hyperbolic it makes some laugh and others uncomfortable, sometimes down right angry.  However, when a politician uses hyperbole to push a nation into war it affects lives, families, cities, economies and that is not a laughing matter.

By the way,  Iran has three bodies of water next to it,  Caspian sea( not technically a sea), The Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea. Also, people in each country in the region have their own cultures, distinct languages and religions and can not be painted with a broad brush.  I figured it is worth mentioning.

To peace, understanding and cooperation.  To humanity.
